More than 3,000 students of Marudhar Kesari Jain College for Women participated in a condolence meeting at its campus in Vaniyambadi town in Tirupattur to mourn the lives lost in the stampede at Karur.
According to a press release, students also took a pledge for their commitment to safety and observed a moment of silence in a tribute to the departed. Kumanan, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, underscored the importance of personal safety for young women in public spaces. He reminded students that their well-being is essential not only for their families but also for society at large. Students were urged to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of themselves and their companions, particularly in crowded areas such as places of worship and marketplaces.
On the occasion, C. Lickmichand Jain, college chairman, V. Dilip Kumar Jain, college president and M. Inbavalli, college principal, were present along with faculty members, administrative staff, and students, the release said.
