ORKAS anniversary celebrations to be held on December 28

The seventh anniversary celebrations of the Oachira Raghavan Pillai Kathakali Asvadaka Samithi (ORKAS), a Kathakali lovers’ forum based in Oachira named after Kathakali musician Oachira Raghavan Pillai, will be held on December 28 at 4.30 p.m. The event will be inaugurated by writer, educationist, and orator Poojappura Krishnan Nair. ORKAS president K.B. Radhakrishnan will preside over the function, and historian M.G. Sasibhooshan will deliver the keynote address.

At the event, Thottam Divakaran Namboothiri Award for lifetime contribution to Kathakali will be presented to veteran performer Thalavady Aravindan. Musician Kalanilayam Unnikrishnan will receive the Devanadam Award for his excellence in temple arts. Additionally, Radhika Varma has been selected for the Kakkottu Maheswaran Potti Award for best female artist, while the Ananthapradeepam Award has been won by Thevalakkara Rajan for his mastery in behind-the-scenes artistry.
