The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Thursday (June 18, 2026) urged Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer to order a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the recent DSC teacher recruitment, arguing that only an independent probe would ensure justice to the affected candidates and restore confidence in the system.

A YSRCP delegation led by Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Botcha Satyanarayana met the Governor at Lok Bhavan and submitted a memorandum on what it described as serious lapses in the recruitment. The delegation included MLCs, former Ministers, legislators and senior party leaders.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Mr. Satyanarayana alleged that the coalition government had turned the much-publicised “Mega DSC” into a “Daga DSC” by allowing irregularities at several stages of the selection. He said the party had placed five major issues before the Governor, including concerns over the preparation of question papers, the publication of selection lists and the implementation of reservations under the sports quota.

Doubts raised by opposition parties and job aspirants had not been adequately addressed by the government, he said. He alleged that, unlike previous DSC recruitments, in which selection lists were displayed at District Collector offices, the present process lacked transparency, and that the lists were uploaded online only after the opposition raised objections.

Mr. Satyanarayana also alleged that changes had been made to the government orders governing the sports quota, and demanded that all related orders be placed in the public domain. He said candidates would accept the outcome of a recruitment if it was conducted fairly, but allegations of manipulation had undermined confidence among aspirants.

The YSRCP leader said the party had sought either a CBI inquiry or an investigation headed by a sitting High Court judge, arguing that a State government probe would not inspire confidence. “The Governor responded positively and said he would seek an explanation from the government,” he told reporters.

Mr. Satyanarayana also demanded a CBI inquiry into the custodial death of Sai Krishna in Vijayawada, alleging that those responsible were being protected. He said transparent and impartial investigations were essential to restore public confidence in institutions.
