The police in the district have registered 18 cases and arrested two people as part of Operation P-Hunt, a State-wide drive targeting those involved in child pornography.

While a man from West Bengal was arrested by the Ernakulam Town South police, an Assam native was nabbed by the Perumbavoor police. Ten cases were registered by the Ernakulam Rural police, while eight cases were booked within the Kochi city limits on Sunday. The accused were booked under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The Rural police raided 19 locations as part of the drive, while the City police searched 14 places. The raids led to the seizure of 11 gadgets, including mobile phones, from the Rural limits and 10 from the city.

The ongoing drive, conducted in coordination with the Countering Child Sexual Exploitation Centre (CCSE) and the Cyberdome, is aimed at tracking down people who watch, download, save, or share child pornography material through electronic media.
