HYDERABAD

A 24-year-old labourer died and four others sustained injuries after a wall collapsed at an under-construction convention hall in Vattinagulapally on Sunday evening.

The deceased, identified as Shekar Mandal, succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to hospital. Kuldan, 22, Ravi Paswan, 18, both natives of Bihar, and cable workers Gunja Narsimha, 21, and Uday Maheshwar, 25, both from Suryapet, are currently undergoing treatment in private hospitals.

The incident was reported between 5.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. on Sunday when the workers were digging a drainage trench beside a 10.5 feet wall, which suddenly gave way and fell on them.

Mandal, a native of Adilabad, was crushed under the debris.
