Tension prevailed during the campaign of TVK candidate for Saidapet constituency after an empty liquor bottle was hurled at him near the Saidapet court on Sunday (April 19, 2026).

City police said Arul Prakasam, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate for the Saidapet constituency, was canvassing votes by walk in Rangarajapuram, located behind the Saidapet Court. An autorickshaw fitted with loudspeakers was playing TVK campaign songs loud.
