The fifth day of the annual Kartheeka Brahmotsavams at the Tiruchanur Padmavati Ammavari temple witnessed the Pallaki Utsavam in the morning and the Gaja Vahana Seva in the evening on Friday.

Braving incessant drizzle, the deity of Goddess Padmavati was carried in a flower-bedecked palanquin in the morning, as thousands of devotees lined the streets for a glimpse of the procession.

Snapana Tirumanjanam (celestial bath) was performed in the afternoon, followed by Vasanthotsavam in the evening.

The Lakshmi Kasula Haram, the golden ornament adorning the presiding deity at the Tirumala temple, was brought downhill to Tiruchanur as a special gift from Lord Venkateswara to His consort for the festive occasion. The precious jewel was carried in a Sobha Yatra by TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary and Joint EO V. Veerabrahmam, who bore it on their heads up to the temple.

The evening’s Gaja Vahana Seva drew massive crowds, as it is considered as significant to the Goddess as the Garuda Vahana Seva is to Maha Vishnu. Being a Friday—regarded as auspicious and associated with womanhood—a large number of women devotees turned up to offer Harathi as the procession made its way through the jam-packed streets.
