Despite persisting complaints from motorists, one-way traffic restrictions have not yet been reinstated on several service roads along the National Highway (NH) stretches, which were reopened after the six-laning works in Kozhikode city. The delay is reported to be causing significant snarl-up, particularly during peak hours.

The stretch near Thondayad Junction has emerged as one of the most affected areas due to delayed interventions. Residents pointed out that vehicles entering the narrow service road from both directions have disrupted the free left movement at the junction. T.K. Nishad, a resident living near Government Medical College, Kozhikode, said the situation worsened with the unchecked movement of heavy vehicles, including trucks approaching from the opposite direction, which hampered the flow of smaller vehicles.

Although the police had earlier described the existing arrangement as a temporary measure linked to the highway widening work, no changes were implemented even after the completion of major renovation works. Residents also said that the multiple entry and exit points beneath the Thondayad flyover have compounded the problem.
