The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Saturday (November 22, 2025) rescued a nine-month-old baby who was abandoned in the Alleppey-Chennai Central Express.

At 5.20 a.m. on Saturday, a message was received from the Divisional Security Control Room, Chennai Division, that a nine-month-old baby girl had been found abandoned in Coach S7 of Train No. 22640 (ALLP–MAS Express).

The RPF Women Sub-Inspector/Chennai Central, along with her team, entered the train on its arrival at Chennai Central (MAS) at 5.30 am and safely rescued the baby. As per information, the baby was found on berth No. 37 of Coach S7 after the train had passed Coimbatore. Despite a thorough search of all coaches, the parents could not be traced. Further efforts to identify them are under way. The baby is reportedly healthy.

The rescued child was subsequently handed over to the Child Help Desk, Chennai Central, for immediate care, medical attention, and further rehabilitation.
