Religious fervour marked the culmination of the nine-day Bathukamma festivities in Karimnagar on Monday night with the immersion of Bathukammas (floral decorations) in various tanks and other water bodies in and around the city.

The Maha Shakti temple in Chaitanyapuri in the city came alive with Bathukamma celebrations late on Monday evening.

Scores of women and girls, clad in traditional attire, danced around the Bathukammas while singing traditional songs in praise of Goddess Gouramma on the premises of the temple.

The nine-day floral festival culminated on a devotional note with the immersion of Bathukammas in water bodies at various places across the former undivided Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad and Khammam districts on Monday night.
