Mild tension prevailed in Narsampally village in Keesara mandal on Wednesday after the parents and a group of people abducted a newly-married woman from her residence.

Videos of the incident surfaced on social media platforms, drawing widespread attention.

According to Keesara Police Inspector A. Anjaneyulu, two members of the woman’s family have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to trace the remaining relatives, including her parents.

The couple, Praveen and Shwetha, both residents of Narsampally, got married about four months ago and had been residing in Hyderabad since.

On Wednesday, when the woman’s family learned that the couple was visiting the village, they went to the house under the pretext of meeting their daughter. They then launched an attack on the young man’s family members, reportedly throwing chilli powder in their eyes during the altercation.

The official said the woman’s parents were opposed to the marriage, which may have triggered the incident.

A case of abduction and trespass has been registered against the woman’s family based on a complaint by Praveen, and efforts are underway to trace the other family members, including her parents.
