New SP’s focus on curbing ganja smuggling, road safety

A.R. Damodar the newly appointed Superintendent of Police (SP) for Vizianagaram formally assumed charge on Monday. On his first day at work, he directed all Station House Officers to intensify efforts against ganja smuggling and take firm action on all persons involved in unlawful activities. He emphasised the government’s committment towards controlling drug menace in the district and other areas.

He instructed officials to hold ‘Good Touch-Bad Touch’ awareness programmes in all educational institutions since protection of children from sexual offences was being given top priority. He assured that public grievances would be resolved in a time bound manner. According to him, the department would focus on road safety and minimise the accidents ratio by taking remedial measures at accident prone areas.
