Kadapa police on Wednesday inducted a new member, Belgian Malinois Sonu, into their canine unit. Sonu is considered an expert in detecting explosives, and with his arrival, the canine strength of the district police has touched nine.
After undergoing formal training for 10 months at the Canine Training Centre (6th Battalion) in Mangalagiri police headquarters, Sonu was formally inducted into the Kadapa canine team. A versatile dog, Sonu is ‘dual trained’ and can track criminals apart from detecting explosives.
Sonu formally greeted the Superintendent of Police (SP) E.G. Ashok Kumar upon induction. The SP expressed hope that crime busting would touch a new high in Kadapa district with Sonu’s entry. Reserve Inspector Siva Ramudu, Reserve Sub-Inspector (SI) Venkateswarlu, head constable and dog squad in-charge Sunil Kumar were present.
