Several State governments, along with the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, have activated emergency helplines to assist affected individuals after catastrophic flooding on the Nepal-Tibet border unleashed waves of water and debris, killing at least 160 people and leaving hundreds missing.

Indian Embassy opens helpline
The Indian Embassy in Nepal said it was in constant touch with the Nepali government to facilitate the safe evacuation of Indian nationals in distress and coordinate rescue operations.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu have issued emergency helpline numbers for Indian nationals seeking assistance or information. Those requiring help may contact the embassy helplines at +977 985 131 6807 and +977 970 910 7500.
The Nepal Tourism Board also issued emergency contact numbers, including the toll-free number 1234, hotline 1144 and Tourist Police number 9851289445.
In Beijing, the Indian Embassy in China on Wednesday issued an advisory providing contact details for Indian nationals stranded in flash floods in areas along the Tibet-Nepal border. Indian nationals may contact Chinese officials on the ground at 0086 139 8999 0012, it said. They may also contact the Embassy of India in Beijing at 0086 185 1428 4905, which is accessible through WhatsApp.
State helpline numbers
Karnataka
The Karnataka government has set up a helpline through the State Emergency Operations Centre to collect information and assist people from the State who may be stranded in Nepal.
The helpline numbers are 1070 and 080-22253707. Individuals may also write to seockarnataka@gmail.com. The Revenue Department has shared a Google form and requested tour operators, family members and stranded persons to provide details so that they can be contacted for rescue and assistance.
Telangana
A Helpline and Coordination Centre at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi has been activated to provide assistance to residents of Telangana who may be stranded or affected in Nepal.
According to a media release, citizens may contact the helpline on 9871999044, 9949351270 and 9618597969.
Kerala
The Kerala government has set up a help desk under the aegis of NoRKA-Roots, the field agency of the Department of Non-Resident Keralites Affairs (NoRKA), to provide emergency assistance, services and information for Keralites stranded in Nepal following the flash floods.
The help desk was established on the instructions of the Chief Minister’s Office. Those seeking assistance may contact the NoRKA Global Contact Centre on 1800 425 3939 (toll-free) or +91 88020 12345 (missed call from abroad).
Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay directed officials to undertake swift and coordinated efforts to trace and rescue people from the State and provide them with necessary assistance. In a post on X, he said officials at Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi had been instructed to coordinate rescue efforts.
The State government also announced round-the-clock toll-free helpline numbers for family members seeking assistance. The helpline number within India is 1800 309 3793.
Those calling from abroad can give a missed call to +91 80690 09900 or contact +91 80690 09901. The control room at Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi can be reached on 92895 16712.
Uttarakhand
The Uttarakhand government has issued helpline numbers to assist residents of the State stranded in Nepal. Officials said the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) had released the numbers to aid affected people.
Anyone from Uttarakhand stranded in the affected areas of Nepal, or those seeking to share information about an individual, can contact the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) in Dehradun. Apart from the SEOC numbers 0135-2710334, 2710335, 2664314, 2664315, 2664316 and 8218867005, people may also contact the toll-free number 1070, officials said.
West Bengal
The West Bengal government has opened helplines at the State police headquarters in Bhabani Bhavan to assist families seeking information about relatives who may have been affected in Nepal.
Families may contact 033-24793311 or 9147890181 for assistance, the State government said.
Chhattisgarh
The Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday issued helpline numbers to assist citizens from the State stranded in Nepal owing to flash floods and landslides, officials said. Residents stranded in Nepal, or their family members, may contact the Disaster Management Helpline at 1070 or +91-771-2223471 for assistance and information.
Maharashtra
The Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has issued helpline numbers for citizens from the State who may be stranded or require assistance owing to the flood situation in Nepal. A 24-hour control room has been set up at the Mantralaya, and residents requiring assistance have been urged to contact it.
The control room can be reached on the toll-free helpline 1070 or +91-9321587143. Citizens may also write to controlroom@maharashtra.gov.in.
People from Maharashtra stranded in Nepal have also been asked to upload their details through the designated online link to facilitate assistance, according to a release.
Odisha
The Odisha government set up a control room in New Delhi and issued helpline numbers to assist people from the State who may be stranded or in distress following the devastating flash floods in Nepal.
The helpline numbers are +91-7428135044, +91-8527580245 and 011-23012807, according to a government statement.
Sikkim
The Sikkim government on Wednesday set up a helpline to assist residents whose family members or relatives may be stranded or affected by the flash floods in Nepal.
People in Sikkim with family members or relatives in Nepal who have been affected by the floods may contact the helpline on 03592-201145, 03592-202461 and 03592-202256, the release said.
In a press release, the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA) said the helpline would facilitate information sharing, coordination of rescue and relief, and communication with authorities.
Rajasthan
The Rajasthan government has issued helpline numbers for those seeking information or assistance regarding people from the State currently travelling in Nepal.
The Disaster Management Department said families seeking information about Rajasthan residents travelling in Nepal could contact the State Emergency Operations Centre on the toll-free numbers 1070 and 112.
They may also contact the centre on 0141-2851960, 0141-2385776, 0141-2385777, 0141-2227296, 0141-2927392 and 0141-2227603.
Information may also be shared through IP number 28888 or via email at relief-rj@nic.in.
Andhra Pradesh
The Andhra Pradesh government announced helpline numbers for residents seeking assistance in connection with the situation in Nepal.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu may be contacted on +977-9808602881 and +977-9810326134.
The Realtime Governance Centre can be reached on 08632381000 (extensions 8001 and 8005). APNRTS is also operating a 24×7 helpline on 08632340678.
The WhatsApp number is +91 8500027678. Assistance is also available through email at helpline@apnrts.com and info@apnrts.com, according to a release.
These numbers are available for both calls and WhatsApp messages. People from Andhra Pradesh stranded in Nepal and requiring emergency assistance may also contact AP Bhavan in New Delhi on +91 9818395787.
Citizens have been urged to contact the Collectorate’s toll-free number, 08555-289039, to report any difficulties, according to a press release.
