A two-day national seminar on “Smart Governance & Systems: Driving the Future of Commerce, Management and Taxation” began at St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous) in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
Organised by the Department of Commerce and Management in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the seminar is being held in a hybrid mode.
Principal Sr. Shyji P.D., who presided over the inaugural session, highlighted the importance of smart governance, ethical leadership and research in building sustainable institutions. Convenor K. Rajani said the seminar aimed to deliberate on emerging issues in commerce, management and taxation.
Chief guest V. Balamohandas, former Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University, spoke on the transformative impact of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on India’s indirect tax system and urged students to keep abreast of developments in taxation and public policy.
More than 70 academicians, researchers and students participated. The seminar proceedings titled Josephine Quest were released during the inaugural session.
