At least seven of the 85 passengers of an APSRTC bus were injured after the bus they were travelling ploughed into a maize field at Appanavalasava village under Garividi Mandal in Vizianagaram district on Monday (January 19).
The incident occurred when the driver of the bus suffered an epileptic fit while driving the bus that was on its way from Rajam to Vizianagaram district headquarters.
Garividi sub-inspector B. Lokesh, whose team rescued the passengers, told The Hindu: “The driver reportedly suffered an epileptic fit while he was driving the bus, leading to the mishap at 11 a.m. Only seven passengers have reported injuries.” At least 51 among the total passengers were women.
All the injured passengers have been admitted to the Cheepurupalli government hospital and the health condition of all the injured passengers are out of danger, Mr. Lokesh added.
The health condition of the driver is also said to be out of danger, the police claimed. The police registered a case and the investigation is on.
