Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran on Wednesday wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleging that the law and order situation in the State has been deteriorating and became a matter of serious concern due to a series of violent and heinous incidents reported in recent times.

In his letter, Mr. Nagenthran referred to the recent incidents of an assault on a migrant labourer from West Bengal at Coimbatore, attack by a group of boys allegedly under the influence of ganja on a person from Odisha and attack on another person by youngsters allegedly under the influence of alcohol at Tiruttani.

“These incidents clearly indicate a disturbing trend of increasing attacks on migrant workers, coupled with rising drug abuse among youngsters, and a clear failure of the law-and-order machinery in Tamil Nadu,” he said.

He sought Mr. Shah’s intervention and appropriate action to ensure the safety and security of the public.
