BJP State unit president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday criticised the TVK-led government over an incident in which children of a government school fell ill after consuming breakfast suspected to have been contaminated by a lizard. The children have since been admitted to a hospital.

Expressing shock over the incident reported in a State-run school in Poonamallee, Mr. Nagenthran contended that such incidents would not have happened if regular inspections were undertaken. He further called for constituting committees to inspect the preparation of food meant for school children.

Mr. Nagenthran urged the TVK-led government to initiate strict action against those responsible for the incident and ensure steps were taken so that such incidents didn’t recur.
