The former Minister B. Nagendra’s resignation was not due to protests by the BJP. It is a decision taken by the Congress, Minister Satish Jarkiholi claimed in Vijayapura on Sunday.

“The BJP is welcome to organise a padayatra against the State government, against the alleged irregularities in the Maharshi Valmiki ST Development Corporation,” he said.

“It is a decision taken by the BJP and an internal matter of that party. On our side, we have sought and obtained the resignation of the Minister who is facing allegations. It is wrong to say that BJP protests led to his resignation,” he said.

He said that the State government has provided answers to all the questions raised by the Opposition on the floor of the House, about the alleged scam in the corporation.

“Now there are two vacant berths in the Cabinet and they need to be filled. We have said that one should be given to a woman member. We may have to wait for another Ministerial berth for Vijayapura district,” he said.
