Yanthungo Patton,Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, expressed his concern over incidents of violence and arson in Maova village, located on the outskirts of Dimapur.

Earlier on Friday (February 13, 2026) arson and clashes reported between Naga-Kuki villages on the outskirts of Dimapur. Police sources told The Hindu that the incident has nothing to do with Manipur issue, appears to be a “local issue”.

Mr. Patton wrote in a post on X, “Any act that disrupts peace and endangers lives and property is a matter of serious concern”. He also appealed for peace and requested people to maintain calm and restraint. He wrote, “I urge all those involved to remain calm, exercise restraint, and allow lawful and constructive processes to address any grievances.”

Clashes have erupted in Ukhrul in neighbouring Manipur between the Naga and Kuki-Zo community. Internet services were suspended in the Naga-majority district for five days from Tuesday (February 10, 2026).

Locals said miscreants torched nine to 10 houses on Tuesday (February 10, 2026) morning, escalating the ongoing tension between Kuki-Zo and Naga villagers in the district’s Litan area, located midway between Imphal, the State’s capital, and Ukhrul, the district headquarters.
