Mysuru Mounted Police shine at National Equestrian Championship

Personnel from the Mounted Company of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), Mysuru City, have brought laurels to the State by securing top honours at the 44th All India Equestrian Championship and Mounted Police Duty Meet 2025-26.

The championship is being held from February 15 to 27 at the Border Security Force Academy in Tekanpur, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, with participation from teams representing 15 States and Central Armed Police Forces.

Head Constable Suresh Malali, attached to the KSRP Mounted Company, Mysuru City, clinched second place (silver medal) in Show Jumping Grade-III and third place (bronze medal) in the Six Bar Jumping event on the opening day of the competition.

Suresh, who joined the Police Department in 2012 and has rendered 14 years of service, has been actively participating in national-level equestrian events for the past nine years. Riding his horse “King Power,” he delivered an impressive performance against strong national contenders.

In the Quadrille event, the Karnataka State Police Mounted Team comprising S.D. Sasanur, Chandra, Mahesh and Suresh Malali secured fourth place. In the Show Jumping Preliminary (Normal) category, M.R. Sandesh and K.T. Jayaprakash also secured fourth place and received consolation certificates.

With the championship still underway, the Karnataka team is expected to add to its medal tally in the remaining events, according to the Mysuru city police.

Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar and senior officers of the Mounted Company have congratulated the personnel for their achievement at the national level.
