Parvatipuram-Manyam district Collector N. Prabhakar Reddy on Sunday (January 18, 2026) said that a novel programme-Mustabu– which is being implemented successfully in schools, caught the attention of people and made them concentrate on beautification of their villages.

He said that the students who are supposed to concentrate on personal hygiene and appearance under the Mustabu programme were successfully launched in many villages, including Biyyalavalasa of Kurupam mandal of the district.

Speaking to The Hindu, he said that just like the way every individual concentrates on their personal appearance, they should also contribute to keeping their respective villages and towns clean. He said that every village would become garbage-plastic wastage free within no time if the people are ready to understand mustabu (beautification) concept.

Mr. Prabhakar Reddy assured that the government would supply an adequate number of garbage bins and take steps for their immediate removal. Biyyalavalasa villagers promised the Collector that they would take up a plantation drive and develop parks locally.

Kurupam MLA Thoyaka Jagadeeswari said that she would support the district administration in making Kurupam as a model mandal in the State.
