The Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections saw a voter turnout of nearly 57.72% on Sunday. Polling continued beyond 7 p.m. in many polling stations and was held peacefully, without no incidents of violence reported in either corporation limits.

Of the total 4.89 lakh voters across 72 wards in the city, 2.82 lakh people exercised their right to vote, according to Additional Election Authority and Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) Commissioner.

A minor dispute took place between the supporters of TDP and YSRCP in the 27th division of Nellore city. However, it was confined to a heated exchange of words between the two sides near the polling station and was brought under control following police intervention.

State Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and MA&UD Minister Ponguru Narayana cast their votes at Santhapeta and Harnathapuram respectively. MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, his wife, and Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy voted in 27th division.

District Election Officer and Collector Himanshu Shukla inspected the polling stations on a motorcycle. Moving through the city, he visited various polling stations to examine the voting process and inquired with the officials the details regarding the voting process.

Despite heavy rain in some areas, the citizens arrived at the polling stations to exercise their right to vote. A woman left the public stunned after arriving at a polling station at 4th Mile Centre High School in Navalakula Thota in her wedding attire to cast her vote shortly after her marriage.
