Swami Muni Narayana Prasad, renowned scholar and head of the Narayana Gurukula, Varkala, passed away on Friday aged 87. He had not been keeping well owing to heart-related ailments.

A highly respected figure in the lineage of Sree Narayana Guru, Muni Narayana Prasad had begun his association with the Narayana Gurukula movement in 1955 after coming into contact with Guru Nitya Chaitanya Yati. The head of the Narayana Gurukula since 1999, he was the third individual to hold that position, after Nataraja Guru and Nitya Chaitanya Yati.
