Mumbai police detain man after threat call to Taj, Trident hotels

A threat call to the Taj Hotel and Trident Hotel in Mumbai on Wednesday (May 6, 2026) led to a security response. The police traced the caller to the Sion area and detained him. An investigation is under way to ascertain his motive.

The call was received at both hotels. The caller stated that a terror attack would take place at the two locations.

After the police were informed, security personnel were deployed at the properties in south Mumbai. Officers conducted checks in and around the hotels.

The police traced the call to a person in Sion. The individual was detained for questioning. The authorities are trying to establish why the call was made.

Officials said the situation was brought under control without any incident.
