The facility, set up under the AMRUT scheme, comprises six floors with four operational units capable of accommodating 31 cars on each floor.

The Kannur Municipal Corporation on Saturday opened a new multi-level car parking centre near Jawahar Stadium. The facility, built under the AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvention and Urban Transformation) project, was inaugurated by K. Sudhakaran, MP.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Musliah Madathil said the new parking centre would help address the acute shortage of parking space in the city, he said.

The multi-level parking facility comprises six floors with four operational units capable of accommodating 31 cars on each floor, allowing a total capacity of 124 cars at a time. The Corporation expects the new system to significantly reduce roadside parking and congestion, especially in busy areas surrounding the railway station.

The project was executed by a Pune-based firm at a cost of ₹12.4 crore.
