The three-day-long Dr. Mrs. YGP Centenary Annual Festival of Music and Dance was inaugurated on Saturday under the auspices of Padma Seshadri Academy for Dance, Heritage, and Music at the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) Senior Secondary School in K.K. Nagar.

Industrialist Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetti, the chief guest, recalled his long association with theatre personality Y.G. Parthasarathi and educationist Mrs. YGP, both eminent patrons of the arts in the city.

Musician Anil Srinivasan spoke on the need for including classical arts in education and said its effect was not immediate, but profound in the long run. 

Dean and director, PSBB School, Sheela Rajendra, and volin vidwan Lalgudi G.J.R. Krishnan, an alumnus of the school, spoke.
