A motorcyclist was killed after being run over by a tipper lorry at Pothencode on Wednesday. The police identified the deceased as Raheem of Chittattumukku, near Kazhakuttam. His wife Naseeha, who was riding pillion, sustained serious injuries in the accident. The accident occurred around 3 p.m. at Chathanpadu when the couple were travelling from Pothencode to Vembayam. While attempting to overtake the two-wheeler, the tipper lorry knocked it down, causing the couple to fall onto the road. The rear wheels of the lorry passed over Raheem’s body, resulting in his instant death.

Naseeha was rushed to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital (MCH). The Pothencode police apprehended the lorry driver, identified as Muhammed Safan, following the accident.
