Morgan Stanley posted third-quarter results that beat expectations as its equities trading franchise generated $909 million more revenue than expected.
Here’s what the company reported compared with what Wall Street analysts surveyed by LSEG were expecting:
- Earnings per share: $3.03, vs. $2.91 expected
- Revenue: $20.34 billion, vs. $19.95 billion expected
Morgan Stanley is expected to benefit from robust investment banking and equities trading revenue in the quarter, as rivals Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase showed in their reports this week.
Analysts will want to know what CEO Ted Pick has to say on the outlook for mergers and IPOs for the rest of the year amid the churn caused by rising interest rates.
