Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara on Friday said that eight to 10 taluks more could be added to the list of drought-affected taluks before a final memorandum is submitted to the Centre.
While the State has already declared 217 taluks out of 240 in the State as drought-hit, ground truthing exercise is being undertaken in the rest 23.
“We are expecting that eight to 10 more taluks are likely to fall within the guidelines and will be declared as drought-affected. We want to take an all-party delegation to the Centre to seek compensation but the Opposition will not come. We will invite them again. Otherwise we will go and submit the memorandum.”
