Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday (January 18) said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was fully supportive of the development of Andhra Pradesh. He was addressing a gathering after paying tributes to TDP founder and former CM N.T. Rama Rao on the occasion of his 30th death anniversary at the party’s central office near Mangalagiri.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said NTR had earned a permanent place in the hearts of the masses by introducing a slew of welfare schemes and, under his stellar leadership, the TDP had come to power within just nine months of its formation, a feat that few parties in the country could accomplish.

He asserted that NTR had defined ‘good governance’ and prioritised development while implementing welfare schemes, which set a benchmark back then. Moreover, NTR brought educated people, intellectuals and marginalised sections into politics by providing them with opportunities to contest in elections. It was because of NTR that the people of A.P. got a distinct identity, Mr. Naidu noted.

The CM said that it was NTR who started old-age pensions and that he laid a lot of emphasis on housing for the poor. As such, the coalition government was giving three cents of land to the poor in rural areas and two cents in urban areas for builiding houses. The Super-6 election promises have been a big hit, he observed.

Further, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said that NTR had abolished the Munsab and Karanam systems, and the TDP-led government scrapped the Land Titling Act, which would have caused a lot of problems for genuine landowners if implemented. Advanced technologies were being used to make land records tamper-proof.

He reiterated that the State government was committed to finishing the Polavaram project by June 2027, and linking the rivers flowing through A.P.

While the TDP and its allies were glued to the task of making A.P. prosperous, the YSRCP was trying all possible tricks to sabotage the government’s developmental efforts, including the steps taken to make Amaravati as a global city, the CM added.

Ministers Payyavula Keshav, K. Atchannaidu and Anagani Satya Prasad, MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad, MLAs Palla Srinivasa Rao (TDP State president) and Md. Naseer Ahmed and others were present.
