MES Keveeyam College, Valanchery, held a three-day conference on interdisciplinary engagement across art, literature, culture, and science. Inaugurating the conference, Syed Abid Hussain Thangal, MLA, called for ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, healthcare, and governance.

Delivering the keynote address, educationist Rafael González Macho from Spain described language as a crucial bridge of cultural exchange. He said languages carried civilisational knowledge and human experiences across generations, and that their survival was closely tied to the survival of cultures.

Presenting a paper, Muslim Educational Society president P.A. Fazal Ghafoor said that analysing paintings and visual archives would help scholars reinterpret history, preserve collective memory, and recover marginalised narratives. He added that visual art served as a key cultural document reflecting social change and lived realities.

The conference, titled ‘Insight’, brought together scholars, researchers, and practitioners from India and abroad to explore the intersections of language, culture, health, technology, and ecology. The deliberations highlighted how academic inquiry across disciplines could contribute to a deeper understanding of society and sustainable development.

Others who addressed the conference included poet P. Raman; Liyaqath Ali, former director of the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture, Egypt; Ratheesh K. Melappattu from the University of California, USA; V.P. Sakeer Hussain from Calicut University; Maniazhagu from Alagappa University; Anthony Addlagatta from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad; and Sabu Thomas from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
