A memorial of Arjuna, the tusker, which died during an elephant capture operation in the Yeslur range of forest in Hassan district in 2023, will be inaugurated, on May 6.

A communique from the office of the Forest Minister issued on Sunday (May 3, 2026) stated that the memorial had been built at the elephant’s burial ground. Arjuna had won the hearts of many as he carried the golden howdah during the Mysuru Dasara procession eight times. It died because of the injury it suffered after being attacked by a wild tusker during the capture operation on December 4, 2023.
