Margi Sathi Smriti Puraskaram for Kalamandalam Gopi and Chitra Visweswaran

The Margi Sathi Smriti Puraskaram for the years 2024 and 2025 will be presented to Kathakali maestro Kalamandalam Gopi and Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer Chitra Visweswaran respectively. Each award includes a cash prize of ₹50,000 and a citation. The award is instituted by the Astikya Foundation in memory of Nangiar Koothu artiste Margi Sathi. December 1, 2025, marks her tenth death anniversary.

The awards will be formally presented during the International Natyasastra Festival, to be held in Thiruvananthapuram from February 26 to 28, 2026. The pre-conference master workshops, led by national and international experts, will begin on February 23.

The award committee included R. Usha Devi, founder trustee of Astikya Foundation, Kathakali artist Kalamandalam Udayakumar, and Rohita Shastry, Archaeologist and Bharatanatyam expert. The award committee was guided by Soorya Krishnamoorthy, a statement said.
