The vice-president of VIT Sekar Viswanathan flagged off a 10-km marathon titled ‘Rise and Rush for Green’ at the VIT campus in Vellore on Thursday.

Organised as part of ‘Riviera 2026’, a four-day cultural and sports festival held on VIT’s campus, the run highlighted the importance of environmental conservation. More than 4,000 participants, including 1,200 girls, took part in the event.

Faculty members and foreign students also participated in the marathon, which covered busy stretches around Katpadi. Prizes were also distributed to the winners.
