The entertainment industry is going through one of its most challenging phases in recent years.

At a time when films are struggling at the box office week after week, and even the biggest, most bankable stars are delivering disappointing results, the landscape of success is rapidly changing. Amid this uncertainty, a few actors are standing out—not through hype or legacy, but through sheer talent, consistency, and the ability to connect with audiences across platforms and genres.

One such actor is Manoj Bajpayee. For a career spanning more than three decades, Mr. Bajpayee has remained one of Indian cinema’s most respected and transformative actors, consistently redefining performance through mainstream, parallel, and independent cinema.

From the unforgettable Bhiku Mhatre in Satya to his widely celebrated portrayal of the relatable middle-class intelligence officer in The Family Man, he has built a body of work that cuts across generations and formats. With more than 70 films to his credit and the Padma Shri among his honours, his contribution to storytelling and performance remains unparalleled.

Two female actors who are breaking the rules of the game are Huma Qureshi and Kritika Kamra. Ms Qureshi has built a formidable space for herself with performance-driven roles, especially through the hugely acclaimed Maharani, now in its third season, where she commands the screen as the lead. Ms. Kamra has steadily evolved from television fame into a respected actor known for layered performances, earning appreciation for projects such as The Great Shamsuddin Family and, more recently, for playing a Parsi girl in Matka King opposite Vijay Varma. Beyond their work, both actors are also known for being articulate and unafraid to voice their opinions.

At The Hindu Huddle in Bengaluru, film critic Rohit Khilnani will be in conversation with Huma Qureshi and Kritika Kamra on June 5 and Manoj Bajpayee on June 6, discussing their remarkable journeys, roles, evolving craft, and the changing landscape of Indian entertainment.
