Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Friday (April 10, 2026) said the person killed in the Ganderbal encounter recently was a party worker and demanded that his body should be returned to the family for burial in the local graveyard.

Ms. Mufti visited the family of the victim, Raashid Ahmad Mughal, at Chuntwaliwar village of Ganderbal’s Lar. “The display picture of the victim’s WhatsApp was the tricolour. He was associated with the PDP. After speaking to the family, I am convinced he was an innocent civilian,” said Ms. Mufti.
