A 42-year-old man was brutally murdered and his body stuffed into a plastic sack before being dumped near an industrial area in Bommasandra, under the jurisdiction of Hebbagodi police station.
The deceased has been identified as Sunil Nayak, 42. Based on a complaint, the Hebbagodi police registered a case of murder and launched a probe.
During the probe, the police arrested the accused, Basudev Mallick, 30, a native of another state. Investigation revealed that the accused was in an illicit relationship with the victim’s wife, Pushpa.
According to the police, Basudev sought to kill Sunil Nayak so that he could continue his relationship with Pushpa without obstruction. On the day of the incident, he allegedly took Sunil along on the pretext of consuming alcohol. During the drinking session, the accused attacked him with a knife and murdered him.
After committing the crime, the accused reportedly disposed of the body by packing it in a plastic sack, before dumping it near the industrial area to destroy evidence.
The police have recovered the weapon used in the crime and secured other evidence. The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is under way.
