A 68-year-old man was arrested by the Pothanikad police on Sunday (November 23, 2025) in connection with the alleged murder of his 57-year-old brother-in-law. The deceased has been identified as Rajan Ayyappan of Erattakkali, Kadavoor near Kothamangalam. The arrested is Sukumaran.

Ayyappan, who was living alone after separating from his family, was found dead at his residence on Sunday morning by party workers who had arrived for local body election campaigning. They immediately alerted residents and informed the police.

The police suspect that Ayyappan and Sukumaran had been drinking together on Saturday night, and a quarrel between them led to the murder. Sukumaran has been charged with murder.
