The Special POCSO Court in Anantapur on Wednesday sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of ₹5,000 for raping a minor girl in Nallamada mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district. The court also directed payment of ₹4.5 lakh as compensation to the victim.

According to police, the incident was reported in December 2020, when the accused Bandi Adinarayana of Erravankapalli village, barged into the victim’s house and sexually assaulted her when she was alone. Following a complaint from the family members, the Nallamada police booked a case and launched an investigation. A charge-sheet was subsequently filed before the Special POCSO Court in Anantapur.

After examining all the evidence and witness statements, the court found Adinarayana guilty and pronounced the sentence. Superintendent of Police S. (SP) Satish Kumar appreciated the investigating officers, special public prosecutor, and police personnel for their efforts that led to the conviction of the guilty.
