A 25-year-old man working at a jewellery store was found dead at his residence in New Patel Nagar, Amberpet, on Friday morning. The incident came to light around 6 a.m. when the family members went to wake him up and found the kitchen door locked from inside.

The deceased was identified as Pentam Mahender, 25, who worked at a jewellery shop in Basheerbagh. According to the complaint lodged by his father Pentam Ramesh, 60, a painter, Mahender was allegedly anxious and depressed in recent days over issues related to his marriage.

Police said Mahender returned home from work on January 29 at around 8.30 p.m. After having dinner at about 10.30 p.m., he went to sleep in the kitchen area, while his parents slept in the bedroom. On Friday morning, when there was no response from him, the family checked through the balcony door and found him hanging.

The complainant told the police that he had no suspicion against anyone and believed his son had taken the extreme step due to mental distress. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
