A person was found dead at his farm at Hanumanthapura, near Holehonnur, in Bhadravathi taluk on Sunday. His body had been charred.

The deceased, identified as H. Suresh, 56, was working as a lecturer at a private college in Shivamogga. He is survived by his wife and two children. He had left home on Saturday, informing his family members that he would attend a programme.

The police found his two-wheeler and a bag at the spot. Senior police officers, including Shivamogga Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil visited the spot. A forensic science team also reached the spot as part of the investigation. It is not clear if it is a case of self-immolation or murder. The police have registered a case of suspicious death.
