A 23-year-old man was found dead after he was allegedly struck by a train between Charlapalli and Moula Ali railway stations on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Shaik Nagur Khaja Vali, a native of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh.

Railway police said the incident occurred near kilometre number 202/37-39 between the two stations.

The victim’s identity was established through a SIM card recovered from a damaged mobile phone found near the body.

Police said family members were subsequently informed about the incident.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the deceased was walking along the railway track and may have failed to notice an approaching train from behind, resulting in him being hit.

Officials said he sustained severe head and body injuries and died on the spot.

Family members informed police that Khaja Vali had arrived in Hyderabad three to four days ago in search of employment.

The body was shifted to Gandhi Government Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

Police said the body would be handed over to the family after completion of the postmortem examination.
