The Guntur district police on Monday (July 27, 2026) arrested a 27-year-old man on charges of obtaining arms licenses using forged documents and illegally possessing firearms and ammunition. Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal stated that the Nagarampalem police conducted the operation under the supervision of West DSP Bellam Srinivasa Rao. The accused, identified as Myla Vijaya Harsha, was arrested by Circle Inspector Munipalli Rajesh and his team.

Police seized three firearms, including a .22 rifle, a 12-bore shotgun, and a .380 pistol. They also recovered 50 rounds of live ammunition, comprising six 9 mm rounds and 44 rounds of .380 caliber ammunition, and seized a car allegedly linked to the offense.

A case has been registered under Sections 318(4) and 336(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25(1)(a) of the Arms Act, 1959. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

Police said creating forged certificates and fraudulently obtaining arms licences pose a serious threat to public safety and attract stringent punishment under the law. They added that a comprehensive investigation is under way to identify the network involved in preparing fake documents, supplying weapons, and facilitating the illegal licences.

The Guntur police urged the public to avoid fraudulent means to obtain arms licences and report any information about illegal possession of weapons or forged licences, assuring that informants’ identities would be kept confidential.
