Senior Congress leaders led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy called on the AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge during his brief stopover in Hyderabad while en route to Gulbarga on Sunday (May 31, 2026).

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Government Adviser Harkara Venugopal Rao and AICC secretary Sampath Kumar were among those who met the Congress president and exchanged views on political and organisational matters.

Later, at the Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud held a separate meeting with Mr Kharge and joined him for a breakfast interaction. During the meeting, Mr Goud briefed the Congress president on the resolutions and discussions held at the recent TPCC Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting at Gandhi Bhavan recently where a decision was taken to ensure Ministers allocate one day of a week for the party programmes.

He also apprised Mr Kharge of the party’s ongoing programmes and organisational activities across Telangana. Sources said the discussions focused on strengthening the Congress organisation in the State and reviewing the progress of various political initiatives being undertaken by the party leadership.

The meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of rumours that Mr. Goud is pushing for a Cabinet berth in the next expansion. However, the rumours were quashed by the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy when he said their combination would face the next elections and emerge victorious.
