Bhagavan Mahavir’s message of non-violence, self-conquest, and universal harmony is the need of the hour for global peace, said C.T. Ravi, BJP MLC.

Speaking at the Mahavir Jayanthi programme organised in Chikkamagaluru on Monday (March 30), Mr. Ravi said Mahavir did not set out to conquer the world but conquered himself and became ‘Jitendriya’. He highlighted that true religion is about duty and righteousness, and it can never promote violence.

India, he said, gave the world ideals of non-violence, peace, and the vision that the entire universe is one family. “We recognise the presence of God everywhere. This thought and philosophy can bring lasting peace to the world,” he observed.

At Humcha

The Mahavir Jayanthi celebrations were held at Hombuja Jain Math, located at Humcha in Hosanagara taluk, Shivamogga. Devendrakirti Bhattaraka Swamy of the math called upon the devotees gathered to uphold the teachings of Mahavir and live harmoniously with every living being.

An idol of Mahavir was placed in a golden palanquin, and rituals were conducted to mark the occasion.

In Shivamogga, members of Nammuru Balaga celebrated Mahavir Jayanthi at Allama Prabhu Park.
