A woman head constable has been beaten to death with a baseball bat by her husband in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district, allegedly over an argument, officers said on Tuesday (September 16, 2025).

According to the police, the incident took place on Monday (September 15, 2025) around 11 p.m. at head constable Savita Saket’s residence at the police line after a heated argument between the two over cooking. Ms. Saket, 42, was posted at the Kamarji police station.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP) Arvindh Shrivastava told The Hindu that the accused, Virendra Saket, 45, fled the spot after the alleged crime and is currently on the run.

“Several teams have been formed to nab him and the police have been keeping a vigil at various checkpoints. The neighbours have revealed that the couple was often involved in disputes and even on the day of the incident, they heard them arguing,” he said, adding that once nabbed, the accused will be interrogated to ascertain the exact motive.

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Rewa Range, Hemant Chouhan and Sidhi SP Santosh Kori visited the police lines and attended a condolence meeting for the deceased personnel.

Mr. Shrivastava said that a post-mortem was conducted on the body before it was cremated.

The couple had a daughter (22) and a son (20).
