A late-night accident involving a steel-laden lorry and a CNG-powered car led to a massive fire near Kurubarahalli around 1.30 a.m. on March 27, triggering panic in the area and resulting in the death of one person.

According to preliminary information, the driver of the lorry lost control of the vehicle on a steep downward slope, and rammed into a stationary car. The impact pushed the car into a nearby scrap godown, sparking a fire that quickly engulfed both vehicles and scrap material.

Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and battled the flames using multiple fire tenders. It took several hours to bring the blaze under control.

A person was trapped inside the car, and lost his life. The victim, Ambadas, 23, is a native of Kalaburagi. He was reportedly sleeping inside the car at the time of the accident. Fire-fighters faced difficulty in retrieving the charred body from the wreckage.

The lorry driver, identified as Sharma, sustained minor injuries and has been admitted to a hospital.
