IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh met Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi and sought the Central government’s support for improving education standards in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Lokesh urged Mr. Pradhan to help approve the proposal for sanctioning 11 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas to A.P. and steps for the establishment of 12 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) recently allotted to the State.

He sought ₹4,400 crore under the STARS (Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States) Project of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, and sanction of ₹1,270 crore towards additional funds proposed by the State for 2025–26 financial year.

Mr. Lokesh highlighted the launch of the Guaranteed Foundational Literacy and Numeracy programme, aimed at ensuring that primary school students achieve the essential reading and numeracy skills.

The State government has introduced an Interactive Classroom Response System in government schools to improve student engagement and learning outcomes, he said.
