The Karnataka Lokayukta police on Thursday arrested two officials of the Greater Bengaluru Authority for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹3 lakh.

The complainant, Nyamathulla Khan, a resident of Heggade Nagara, had approached the Lokayukta alleging that his khata-related work was pending with the officials and they were demanding bribe to clear the khata.

The accused officials have been identified as Venkatesh, Revenue Inspector at Geddalahalli in Thanisandra ward, and Srinivas, Tax Inspector of the same ward. The accused demanded a bribe of ₹3 lakh to clear the pending khata work related to the complainant’s building, the officials said.

Srinivas was held red-handed while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant. Both accused have been taken into custody.

The operation was supervised by DySP Poovaiah K.C., while the trap was led by Police Inspector Maruthi G. Nayaka and his team from Lokayukta Bengaluru City-2. The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of Superintendent of Police K. Vamsikrishna, IPS.
